Lindemans, founded in 1843 by Dr Henry Lindeman, remains a cornerstone of Australian winemaking and a trusted name across generations. The Limestone Ridge Vineyard in Coonawarra, planted in the late 1960s, is renowned for its terra rossa soils overlaying limestone, producing wines of intensity and structural finesse. The 2005 vintage was a cool but balanced season, yielding fruit with purity, depth and varietal character. Shiraz brings dark berry richness and spice, while Cabernet Sauvignon adds cassis, cedar and tannin definition. Traditional vinification in small fermenters was followed by 18 months maturation in a mix of French and American oak, integrating fruit power with savoury oak complexity. The result is a layered red with blackberry, plum and spice interwoven with cedar, tobacco and firm, fine-grained tannins. Recognised with strong critical acclaim, this vintage demonstrates why Limestone Ridge remains one of Coonawarra’s benchmark Shiraz–Cabernet wines.
