Saltram Wine Estate, founded in 1859 in the Barossa Valley, has long been recognised for both robust table wines and fortifieds matured in the estate's historic cellars at Angaston. The Wood Aged Port Reserve S68 NV continues this lineage, drawn from traditional Portuguese and local grape varieties vinified in South Australia and matured in seasoned oak for extended periods. Parcels of varying ages are blended to achieve balance, with older components contributing rancio depth and complexity, while younger wine adds freshness and lift. The oxidative ageing process under Barossa's warm conditions imparts layers of dried fruit, roasted nut, spice and savoury length, reflecting the region's fortified tradition at its most characteristic.
