Schild Estate has been a Barossa Valley fixture since the 1950s, with the Schild family nurturing old vines and crafting wines that reflect their heritage and land. Edel Shiraz 2019 comes from a cooler, low-yielding season that produced fruit of intensity and purity. Dark plum, black cherry and cranberry form the core, layered with baking spice, licorice, chocolate and savoury olive tapenade. Violet perfume and roasted-meat complexity add lift and depth. The palate is plush yet precise, framed by compact, powdery tannins and bright acidity that carry through a long, poised finish. This is a modern Barossa shiraz with both richness and refinement, built to reward patient cellaring while showing vibrancy in its youth.

Reviews

Deep crimson and packed with ripe Doris plum, black cherry and boysenberry fruit notes. Hints of dried cranberry, baking spice, licorice, fruit-and-nut chocolate, tapenade, violets and roasting meats. Full bodied, with compact, powdery tannins and some fine acidity. Nice red plum notes flow in on the palate, adding detail and a few lumens to the ripe fruit on show. Long finish too. Top Wines of 2018
A super concentrated Shiraz from the Barossa, it was a low yielding season resulting in fruit of great concentration and power. The aromas are highly perfumed with red fruits and blackberry complimented by a lift of spice and cracked black pepper. The palate is firmly held by chalky tannins and plenty of oak. Dark flavours of blackberry, plum and dark chocolate reveal gradually as it extends to a long finish. Smooth and velvety.
