Domaine Francois Raveneau Les Clos Chablis Grand Cru 2013 is a distinguished expression of Chablis that defies the challenges of its vintage with exceptional depth and texture. This wine emerges from the renowned Les Clos vineyard, known for its south-facing, sun-drenched slopes that impart a fuller and broader-shouldered profile to the wine. Despite the 2013 vintage’s reputation for difficult weather conditions, this bottle showcases remarkable concentration and complexity, making it a standout Grand Cru.

The palate is enriched with layers of creamy lemon curd and spicy oak, harmoniously balanced by a firm and refreshing acidity that underscores its elegance and age-worthiness. The unique terroir of Les Clos, one of the largest and most prestigious Chablis Grand Cru sites, lends this wine its characteristic minerality and vibrant freshness, reflecting the cool climate and limestone-rich soils of Burgundy’s northernmost appellation.

Carefully sourced from a premium private cellar, this bottle embodies the meticulous craftsmanship and tradition of Domaine Francois Raveneau, a producer celebrated for crafting some of the finest Chablis wines. The 2013 vintage here is a testament to resilience and finesse, offering a complex yet approachable experience for those seeking a refined white Burgundy with both power and precision.

Ideal for collectors and connoisseurs alike, this Grand Cru delivers a captivating balance of richness and structure, making it an excellent choice for pairing with seafood, poultry, or creamy cheeses. Experience the distinctive elegance of one of Chablis’ most coveted vineyards through this remarkable 2013 vintage.

Reviews

There is an abundance of Chablis character to the mildly exotic white fruit, floral, pear, spice and mineral reduction aromas. The palate impression is more open than it usually is at this stage with impressive richness to the generously proportioned middle weight plus flavors that coat the palate with dry extract on the stony, balanced, harmonious and highly persistent finish. Like the Valmur this is an overtly powerful wine that should also reward mid-term cellaring yet because of the excellent richness and mid-palate density, it should be approachable young.
The 2013 Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos has a very precise and commanding bouquet with intense citrus fruit and mineralite - hints of orange blossom and a daring touch of licorice developing with aeration. The palate is fresh and vibrant, quite steely on the entrance but fanning out wonderfully toward the citric finish. Perhaps like last year, it is the Valmur that really shines at the moment and might be Raveneau's wine of the vintage. (NM)
