Domaine Armand Rousseau Clos du Chateau 2014 represents a distinguished expression of Burgundy’s finesse, crafted during a notably cool-vintage year that imparted remarkable precision and balance. This small-production cuvée is highly sought-after for its exceptional quality and offers outstanding value within the esteemed Rousseau lineup.

Expertly sourced from a premium private cellar, the 2014 vintage showcases the unique terroir of Gevrey-Chambertin, known for producing wines that combine power and elegance with remarkable aging potential. The 2014 growing season was characterized by a cooler climate, which helped preserve fresh acidity and complex aromatics, resulting in a wine of clarity and finesse.

This rare bottling stands out for its layered flavors, featuring ripe red fruits, subtle spices, and refined earthy undertones that unfold beautifully with time. Its well-integrated tannins and vibrant acidity underscore the wine’s structure, making it a smart acquisition for those who appreciate Burgundy’s nuanced character without the premium Grand Cru price tag.

Perfectly suited for cellaring or immediate enjoyment, Domaine Armand Rousseau Clos du Chateau 2014 is a testament to meticulous vineyard work and expert winemaking. This cuvée is a compelling choice for connoisseurs seeking both rarity and authenticity in a red Burgundy.

Reviews

Harmonious and elegant, this red boasts rose, cherry, leafy tobacco and chalky, stony flavors allied to a juicy profile. Firm and mouthwatering on the finish. Best from 2020 through 2035.
The new village bottling of the Clos du Chateau is really a lovely wine in 2014, offering up a pure and classy nose of red and black cherries, raw cocoa, dark soil tones, a touch of gamebird and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and quite sappy at the core, with lovely focus and grip, soft, silky tannins and fine length and complexity on the already quite delicious finish. This is a bit broader-shouldered than the domaine's other villages bottling, as well as a bit more black fruity, but it is equally fine. I am sure that the 2014 Clos du Chateau will age quite gracefully, but good luck keeping your hands off of it in its youth! (Drink between 2016-2035)
