Cape Mentelle Cabernet Sauvignon 2001 1.5L Magnum is a distinguished Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon from one of Western Australia’s pioneering estates. Founded in 1970 by the Horgan brothers, Cape Mentelle helped establish Margaret River as a world-class home for premium Cabernet Sauvignon. Presented in an impressive magnum format, this mature wine reflects the estate’s enduring heritage and classic style.

Beautifully composed, the 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon reveals enticing layers of cassis, blackberry and dark plum, complemented by cedar, bay leaf and subtle spice. Fine, structured tannins provide balance, depth and a lingering finish, creating a refined expression of mature Western Australian Cabernet Sauvignon.

A superb partner for steak, roast lamb, beef and special Sunday dinners, this collectible 1.5L magnum is well suited to formal dining and considered cellaring. Sourced from a premium private cellar.

Reviews

This is still quite dark in color, right to the rim, and it overflows with complex aromas of flowers, herbs, tobacco, cassis and subtle oaking. Firmly structured, but the tannins are ripe, not hard, while the flavors bring waves of cassis, plum, tobacco and vanilla without ever seeming overly rich or jammy. Drink this wonderfully harmonious offering from 2008–2015.
