Overeem is one of Tasmania's original whisky distilleries.
Founded in 2005 by Casey Overeem, fuelled by a burning passion to make great spirit, the distillery has been through several iterations, now resting in the hands of Casey's daughter Jane, and her husband Mark Sawford since 2019, operating as a family business.
Since then, Overeem has been producing some of Tasmania's best family-owned single malt, winning a wide range of awards both domestically and overseas.
In 2026, Overeem was awarded not one, but two Category-winning Gold Medals at the World Whisky Awards, a tremendous achievement for the distillery.
The first barrel ever filled at Overeem was a Sherry cask, with Casey taking inspiration from Scottish producers and their affinity for those barrels.
The resulting whisky is dark and intricate, viscous and rich.
At cask strength, 60% ABV, you'll be treated to a nose loaded with dark chocolate, black treacle, Christmas spices and toasted nuts.
The palate is softer, those dark flavours carried by the richness of the spirit. Toffee and maple syrup, homemade jam and treacle. The finish is long, evoking lightly charred almonds, subtle cocoa and stewed dried fruits.
