Alvaro Palacios Gratallops 2015 is a "Vi de Vila" wine that encapsulates the essence of the Gratallops village in Priorat. Crafted from a blend of Garnacha, Carinena, and a small percentage of local white varieties, this wine showcases the unique character of its origin.

The grapes are sourced from 12 distinct plots within Gratallops, featuring vines aged between 15 and 70 years, rooted in the region's characteristic llicorella slate soils. The 2015 vintage underwent fermentation in wooden vats with indigenous yeasts, followed by aging for approximately 16 months in French oak barrels and foudres.
Decantalo

In the glass, the wine displays a medium to deep ruby color. The nose offers aromas of red berries, subtle tobacco, wet slate, and hints of nutmeg. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, presenting ripe berry flavors balanced by spice and firm tannins, leading to a long, mineral-driven finish.

This vintage reflects the power and elegance typical of Priorat wines, with a structure that suggests excellent aging potential.

Reviews

The "vi de vila" or village wine 2018 Gratallops was produced with a blend of 74% Garnacha, 25% Cariñena and 1% white varieties that were crushed and destemmed and then fermented in oak vats with indigenous yeasts. The wine matured in oak containers of different sizes, bocoyes and oval foudres, for 15 months. This is the most approachable and open of the 2018s, aromatic and with the characterful profile of wet slate, nuts, Mediterranean herbs and acid berries. It has a lively palate with great acidity but especially with complete but sustained freshness. It has fine tannins and is nicely textured. Textbook Priorat. 18,740 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2020.
