Casa E. di Mirafiore, a historic Barolo estate with 19th-century roots, has long championed traditional winemaking in Serralunga d’Alba. The Lazzarito vineyard, one of the most prestigious crus in the commune, lies on calcareous clay soils at around 400 meters elevation - an ideal setting for producing powerful, long-lived Barolo.

The 2010 vintage was exceptional in Piedmont, offering a classic balance of ripeness and structure. This Barolo is crafted entirely from Nebbiolo, fermented in stainless steel before undergoing extended maceration and aging in large oak casks for over two years, followed by bottle refinement.

In the glass, the wine shows deep garnet with ruby reflections. Aromas of dried cherry, plum, tobacco, forest floor, and spice unfold gradually, with notes of menthol and rosemary adding lift. The palate is full and structured, with firm tannins, vibrant acidity, and flavors of black cherry, licorice, and savory herbs. The finish is long, mineral, and evolving.

This is a stately, cellar-worthy Barolo now entering its prime, ideal with braised meats, game, and aged cheeses.

Reviews

Elevation and limestone soils make Lazzarito one of Serralunga's finest and most long-lived sites. Aromatic Intensity and vigorous red fruit on the nose. Firm, concentrated and taut - discreet power, though the tannins are not too dominant. Tightly wound and youthful, this is harmonious and surprisingly forward but very well balanced and long, thanks to its fine acidity.
