Domaine Comte Georges De Vogue Bonnes Mares Grand Cru 2011 stands as a remarkable expression of Burgundy’s revered terroir, combining both gravitas and finesse in one extraordinary bottle. This Grand Cru epitomizes the unique character of Bonnes-Mares, a vineyard known for producing wines that are bolder and more robust than their neighboring counterparts. It masterfully bridges the aromatic elegance typical of Chambolle with the muscular structure often associated with Morey, delivering a complex profile that captivates from the first sip.

This 2011 vintage reveals darker fruit notes intertwined with earthy power, characteristics that underscore Bonnes-Mares’ reputation as a vineyard of depth and intensity. The wine’s muscular tannins provide a structured backbone, promising excellent aging potential while maintaining an alluring balance and polished finish. The vintage benefited from a moderately warm growing season, allowing for optimal ripeness and vibrant flavor concentration, making it a standout example from this celebrated year.

Sourced from a premium private cellar, this bottle embodies the meticulous care and tradition upheld by Domaine Comte Georges De Vogue. The estate’s commitment to quality is evident in the wine’s refined complexity, showcasing meticulous winemaking that honors the vineyard’s heritage. The wine's deep ruby color invites you into a bouquet rich with dark cherry, plum, and subtle hints of forest floor and minerality—elements that reflect its unique Burgundian origins.

Bonnes-Mares is renowned for producing wines with an impressive combination of power and elegance. This bottle’s structured nature and profound depth make it an excellent representation of Grand Cru Burgundy wines, prized by connoisseurs and collectors alike. Whether enjoyed now or cellared for future enjoyment, the Domaine Comte Georges De Vogue Bonnes Mares Grand Cru 2011 captures the essence of one of Burgundy’s most esteemed vineyards.

Reviews

Deep red-ruby. Slightly high-toned aromas of blueberry, roasted herbs, musky earth and chocolate; this could hardly be more different from the Amoureuses. Round, rich and sweet, with a fairly sizable structure for 2011. Plenty of depth here but the black fruit and chocolate flavors seem almost heavy following the Amoureuses. Finishes with dusty, broad tannins and excellent rising length. Became increasingly dense and sensual with aeration.
A strikingly well-layered nose of dark berry fruit, spice and earth gives way to very rich, round and again quite voluminous middle weight plus flavors that possess excellent mid-palate concentration, all wrapped in muscular finish. In much the same fashion as the Chambolle 1er, there is enough acidity that presently sticks out somewhat and while it may integrate, my score will remain cautious until I have a chance to see the finished wine in bottle next year.
