Poderi Aldo Conterno Romirasco Bussia Barolo 2008 represents a pinnacle of Nebbiolo craftsmanship from the celebrated Bussia cru in Barolo, Italy. This vintage stands out as the thinker’s Romirasco—meticulously focused and deeply savoury, it embodies the essence of a cathedral built in wine form, showcasing the structural elegance and complexity that Nebbiolo is renowned for.

Hand-selected from a premium private cellar, this Barolo offers a rare glimpse into the refined power and soul of the 2008 vintage. Known for producing wines with remarkable balance and aging potential, 2008 brought precise ripeness and vibrant acidity to the grapes, resulting in a wine with gripping tannins and profound gravitas. The Romirasco’s signature mineral-driven personality and aromatic intensity speak to the unique terroir of the Bussia hills, where limestone-rich soils and optimal sun exposure cultivate grapes of exceptional quality.

The palate reveals layers of dark cherry, dried herbs, and subtle hints of tar and roses, all woven together by firm yet polished tannins. With time in glass, the wine evolves to display nuanced notes of leather, spice, and earth, emphasizing its complexity and longevity. Its savoury core makes it a standout example of Barolo’s ability to marry power with finesse.

Poderi Aldo Conterno Romirasco Bussia Barolo 2008 is an exceptional collector’s wine, treasured for its ability to age gracefully and develop multifaceted aromas and flavors over decades. It is a wine that demands contemplation and appreciation, perfectly illustrating why Barolo is known as the “King of Wines.”

Reviews

Rich ruby with a very light garnet rim. Clear and vivid on the palate, almost cool fruit, notes of plum and tobacco. Lots of juicy, vivid fruit on the palate, wonderful finesse, opens with supple, dense tannins, builds up in many layers, a festival!
