Dubreuil-Fontaine is a respected family estate based in Pernand-Vergelesses, managing vineyard parcels across some of the Côte de Beaune’s finest appellations, including Pommard. The domaine’s philosophy centres on vineyard expression and traditional Burgundian methods, with careful hand-harvesting and minimal intervention in the cellar.
The 2002 Pommard was produced from estate fruit grown on classic clay-limestone soils. After traditional fermentation with native yeasts, the wine was aged in French oak barriques, a portion new, to add subtle complexity without overshadowing the terroir.
Now fully mature, the wine opens with aromas of dried cherry, wild strawberry, and forest floor, underscored by hints of earthy spice and tobacco. The palate is medium-bodied, with soft, resolved tannins and a core of savoury red fruit. Bright acidity frames the finish, giving persistence and lift. This is a graceful, elegantly evolved Pommard, offering a clear sense of place and the complexity that only bottle age can bring.
