Ca di Bruno is an organic estate located on the Serraboella hill in the Barbaresco commune of Piedmont, where Nebbiolo vines between 35 and 75 years of age provide depth and complexity. The 2019 season brought warm days and cool nights, allowing full ripening while retaining acidity and fragrance. Grapes were hand harvested and fermented with extended maceration to capture tannin structure and aromatic detail, followed by 18 months maturation in large Slavonian oak casks and a further six months in bottle before release. The finished wine reflects classic Barbaresco character, showing precision and length with red cherry and savoury spice carried by firm, fine tannins. Structured yet refined, it demonstrates both the site’s maturity and the estates commitment to traditional methods, offering drinking pleasure now and the potential to develop gracefully with cellaring.

Reviews

This tightly knit red has aromas of licorice, violet, raspberry jam and oak-driven spice. The firmly structured palate is still young and shy, offering pomegranate, star anise and clove alongside taut, fine-grained, drying tannins and bright acidity. Drink 2027-2034.
