A.T. Richardson was founded in 2005 by Adam Richardson in the Grampians, western Victoria, where granite soils, elevation and a continental climate produce some of Australias most elegant Shiraz. The estate focuses on small batch production, sourcing fruit from estate vineyards and regional growers, with a philosophy of expressing site and season through restrained winemaking. The 2018 Chockstone Shiraz comes from a long, even growing season that allowed fruit to reach balanced ripeness while retaining natural acidity. Hand harvested grapes were fermented in small lots and matured in French oak, building layered complexity without overwhelming the fruit. The wine shows dark berry and plum fruit, lifted spice and pepper, subtle oak notes and fine tannins that carry length. Combining freshness with depth, it represents a modern Grampians Shiraz suited to pairing with grilled lamb or aged cheddar, and has the structure to reward mid term cellaring.
