This Hunter Valley classic is simply cascading with regional red and purple fruits supported by wonderful oak integration.

Established by the late Dr. Max Lake in 1963, Lake's Folly is Australia's first boutique winery. The vineyard, the first established since the early 1900s, was planted on the volcanic and alluvial soils adjacent to Rosehill, in the lower Hunter Valley. 'The vineyard is everything' underscores overall winemaking philosophy.

Reviews

Accentuated aromas of dark red and black berries fine-grained dusty cedary small oak dried herbs and cloves with suggestions of black olives Full to medium weight long supple and smooth with piercingly intense flavours of small black fruits framed by tight-knit tannins finishing with a nuance of pepper and spice Superb balance
Healthy, full red-purple; a distinctly regional, gently earthy/savoury cast to the fruit will doubtless raise the question in the minds of some, but for me the wine is spotlessly clean. A perfectly made wine on the palate, with cassis fruit the anchor for both the texture and structure; exemplary tannin and oak handling completes the picture.
