Domaine Drouhin-Laroze, a family-run estate in Gevrey-Chambertin, is known for its commitment to traditional Burgundian winemaking practices. The domaine emphasises expressing the unique terroirs of the Côte de Nuits through meticulous vineyard management and careful vinification.

Chapelle-Chambertin, one of the esteemed Grand Cru vineyards in Gevrey-Chambertin, is renowned for producing wines of elegance and complexity. Domaine Drouhin-Laroze's parcel in this vineyard benefits from its favourable exposure and limestone-rich soils. In 2013, the grapes were hand-harvested and underwent careful sorting. Fermentation was carried out with indigenous yeasts, followed by ageing in French oak barrels, with a judicious use of new oak to preserve the wine’s purity and finesse.

The 2013 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru presents a deep ruby hue. The nose offers a complex bouquet of dark plum, strawberry, and subtle floral notes, intertwined with hints of spice and earth. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and refined, showcasing flavours of black fruit and a touch of coffee. The fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity contribute to a harmonious structure, leading to a long, mineral-driven finish. This wine exemplifies the elegance and depth characteristic of Chapelle-Chambertin and is poised for graceful ageing over the next two decades.

Reviews

"This is aromatically more complex if not more elegant than the Chapelle with its array of spiced plum, exotic tea, dark currant and subtle sauvage scents. The restrained and beautifully delineated flavors also seem to be constructed on a base of liquid minerality that adds lift to the very firm, intense, linear and moderately austere finish that delivers outstanding persistence. This too will need at least 12 to 15 years to arrive at its full potential."
"The 2013 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru offers pure red cherry and strawberry scents on the nose, interlaced with vanilla and dried flowers, a touch more complex than the Chapelle-Chambertin at this stage. The palate is quite energetic in the mouth with candied red fruit, minerals and citrus peel. Animated and long, this is a fine Latricières and one of the best offering from the domaine this year."
