Domaine Dujac Aux Combottes Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru 2013 offers a remarkable expression of Burgundy’s prestigious terroir, showcasing the exceptional quality that has defined this estate for decades. Cultivated organically since 1968, the Aux Combottes vineyard reflects a commitment to sustainable viticulture, ensuring that each bottle captures the pure essence of the soil and climate.

This 2013 vintage is a standout example of Pinot Noir craftsmanship, receiving an impressive 91 points from Allen Meadows, a respected critic in the world of Burgundy wines. The wine is crafted using whole-cluster fermentation, a technique that promotes gentle extraction and preserves the delicate aromatic profile. Extended aging in oak barrels further enhances its complexity, adding layers of subtle spice and a refined mineral tension that is characteristic of the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation.

From the heart of the Côte de Nuits, this Premier Cru vineyard benefits from optimal sun exposure and well-drained limestone soils, which contribute to the wine’s vibrant acidity and structured tannins. The 2013 vintage experienced favorable weather conditions, allowing for a balanced ripening period that resulted in wines with both depth and elegance.

Domaine Dujac is renowned for pushing beyond the boundaries of Morey-Saint-Denis, and Aux Combottes is a prime example of their dedication to excellence across the Gevrey-Chambertin region. The wine’s profile features bright red fruit notes, subtle earthy undertones, and a persistent finish that speaks to its aging potential.

Ideal for collectors and connoisseurs seeking a refined Burgundy with organic pedigree, this Premier Cru embodies the harmony of tradition and innovation. Experience the finesse and complexity of Domaine Dujac Aux Combottes Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru 2013, a true testament to the art of Pinot Noir winemaking.

Reviews

A discreet application of wood frames the fresh, cool and relatively airy aromas of high-toned cherry, pomegranate and ample floral scents. There is a sleek mouth feel to the utterly delicious and lightly mineral-inflected middle weight flavors that retain a lovely sense of underlying tension and fine delineation on the balanced, long and solidly persistent if presently linear finish that my score assumes will flesh out with bottle age.
Saturated dark red. Blackberry and black licorice on the nose, plus a medicinal note. Very ripe and a bit warm, showing a solid structure but less pliancy than the last few samples. Substantial slightly tough tannins make this a bit ungiving today. Just a touch dry but long on the finish. (ST)
