Casanova di Neri Brunello di Montalcino 2013 represents the pinnacle of Tuscan winemaking, crafted by one of Montalcino’s most respected estates. Established in 1971 when Giacomo Neri’s father acquired the vineyard, Casanova di Neri manages 155 acres of prime vineyards predominantly east of Montalcino, including the renowned 12-acre Cerretalto parcel. The estate’s 62-acre Tenuta Nuova, located further south, adds to the diversity and complexity of their portfolio.

The 2013 vintage is celebrated for its exceptional balance and elegance, benefiting from ideal growing conditions that allowed the Sangiovese grapes to achieve perfect ripeness. This vintage stands out with vibrant aromas of ripe cherry and plum, accompanied by subtle hints of spice, earth, leather, and tobacco. On the palate, it delivers a harmonious structure with powerful tannins and lively acidity, leading to a long and satisfying finish that highlights its impressive aging potential.

Casanova di Neri’s commitment to sustainable viticulture and precision in winemaking is evident in this meticulously crafted Brunello. The wine’s prestigious pedigree is further underscored by a 94-point rating from Vinous, and its provenance is guaranteed by sourcing from a premium private cellar. This ensures an authentic and high-quality expression of one of Italy’s most iconic wine regions.

Hailing from Montalcino, a region renowned globally for producing bold yet refined Brunello di Montalcino wines, the 2013 vintage from Casanova di Neri captures both tradition and modern excellence. It is a sophisticated wine that reflects the heritage of its vineyards, the skill of its creators, and the unique terroir of south-central Tuscany.

Reviews

Luminous deep red. Captivating aromas of sweet red berries, cinnamon, violet, and licorice. Then also very fruity in the mouth; refined, juicy red plum and raspberry flavors linger brightly on the fresh back end. Has a delightful red fruit cocktail quality that makes it practically impossible to put the glass back down. And though it is simply bursting at the seams with early appeal, this truly lovely Brunello will also age well. Unless my memory fails me, this may well be the best entry-level wine from Casanova di Neri that I have ever tasted.
This is a typical 2013 with a sweetness of fruit and plums. Citrus undertones. Medium to full body, ultra-fine tannins, and a lively finish
