Reschke Wines, rooted in Coonawarra’s distinctive terra rossa vineyards, has long focused on cabernet sauvignon that reflects regional precision and elegance. The 2020 RSR Cabernet is built from low-yield fruit that achieved full ripeness in a cooler season, preserving vibrancy and structure. Hand-harvested fruit was fermented in small parcels and matured in fine-grained oak to integrate aromatic depth and texture without overpowering varietal clarity. The wine opens with cassis, blackcurrant and subtle graphite notes, enriched by cedar, dried herb and spice. The palate offers mid-weight richness, firm yet supple tannins and a poised finish with mineral lift. This RSR release demonstrates Reschke’s seamless balance between regional typicity and composure, and promises both early appeal and cellaring potential.

Reviews

There is little doubt that this is a bit special. The grapes are the best the Estate offers, from their Henry Albert vineyard, planted in 1998 in Coonawarra. The wine spends 18 months in French oak hogsheads, before barrel selection determines the final wine. Dark, almost mysteriously so, this wine offers notes of mocha, chocolate, coffee beans, soy, florals and spices with fully integrated oak. This is balanced, intense and yet elegant. A wine with finesse. Silky tannins, exceptional length, the palate sees the emergence of violets and aniseed notes. This will provide pleasure for eight to fifteen years with ease. Drink: 2023 - 2038; Price: $75.00; Rating: 95 Points
The user-friendly 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon is immediately expressive as it delivers vibrant blackcurrants and violets aromas with a dusting of dried herbs. Good upfront concentration follows. A fine seam of tannins keeps the attractive texture in shape. It's close to peak now but will hold for a little while. Drink: 2024 - 2030; Rating: 92 Points
